FIRST WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS – HOUSTON

FRANKLIN FINALIST ALLIANCE CAPTAIN About a month and a half after Super-Regionals, our team flew to Houston, Texas for the Houston FIRST Championship. There, we cinched 3rd place in the Franklin Division and became the captain of our alliance with teams 9899 Black Diamond Robotics and 11039 Innov8rz. We won our first two semifinal matches, then advanced to finals to set a record of 653 points as Division Finalist Alliance Captains. COMPASS AWARD WINNER Alongside RevAmped, our teams nominated Coach Zhunquin Wang for the Compass Award. We collaborated with RevAmped to create a nomination video exemplifying the various ways in which Coach Zhunquin had helped us throughout the season. Our team contributed a lot to the creation of the nomination video by having representatives from Overcharged speak about Coach Zhunquin’s nomination during the clip. Furthermore, we initiated the effort – Advaith felt it was a long overdue nomination. We…

OREGON STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

INSPIRE AWARD Winning the Inspire Award at the State Championship took hundreds of hours of dedication and thought, whether it was for our robot or an upcoming outreach. Our team spent a tremendous amount of time organizing impactful outreaches, designing efficient mechanical and software systems, creating detailed business plans, and extensively documenting our engineering processes. By the time we competed at State, we had a solid engineering notebook and numerous talking points to expound upon during judging presentations and interviews. As a rookie team, being honored with the State Inspire Award was a huge step forward in our team’s path in the FTC and greater FIRST community. FINALIST ALLIANCE CAPTAIN In the time we had between Super-Qualifiers and the State Tournament (approximately two weeks), we spent much of our time ensuring the consistency and stable functionality of our robot. Our efforts paid off at States when we went undefeated in the Qualifying Rounds yet again and attained 553 points in one match, the top score from the state of Oregon. During the elimination matches, we and our…

SUPER QUALIFIERS – DELTA

INSPIRE AWARD Between League Qualifiers and Super-Qualifiers, we were very busy with making changes to our robot and its mechanical subsystems but still maintained an organized, detailed notebook. As we progressed through the weeks, we ensured that our engineering notebook was kept organized and updated, with thorough documentation of our team activities. As a result, our team won the Inspire Award again at the Super-Qualifier Tournament. FINALIST ALLIANCE CAPTAIN After a successful League Qualifying Tournament, we competed at the Oregon Super-Qualifier Tournament in Hillsboro, Oregon. During the two weeks that had elapsed since the LQT, we had put in hours of work to implement our new relic claw, the effects of which were reflected in our scores – Overcharged had…
